An enjoyable book for any age. The oceanic photographs are spectacular and the information given is interesting and not overly detailed. Good resource for anyone who likes photos of ocean species and interesting facts. Book is short enough to keep the interest of children and offers good information on earth's oceans.
Beautiful photography, book page sized with good descriptive parts as well. Very glad I got this one. I have 2 others from this publisher and I will watch for more. Highly recommended for those with younger children or those that just enjoy this type of book.
This book will appeal to children who are interested in the oceans and life in the sea. While the photographs are beautiful, they are not accompanied by text explaining what is displayed and exactly where the picture originated. Information about the oceans is included but is randomly inserted between the photos. The book would be a much more valuable reference book if the photos were cross referenced and documented.Children in the elementary grades will enjoy looking at the photos. Readers should not expect a story line. The book abruptly ends without a summary or conclusion
I love the ocean and I wished I lived closer to it. I would be at the beach all the time. This book has pictures that brings me back to the ocean every time. It makes me miss not being able to go as often as I would like but I learned something new from this book too. If you love the ocean as I do, you should read this book. *I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review*
Lovely photographs but they have little to do with the text. For example, much is made of the Marianas Trench, the deepest place on the planet yet the accompanying photos are of surface dwellers. Lazy and inane.
This "book" has beautiful color pictures, but they're unlabeled. Adding a label would have made the book a lot more useful. The text is random ocean facts that don't relate to the pictures. It's not quite a book, but a collection of facts and unrelated, unlabeled pictures.
Great pictures, but there is nothing that tells you what kind of fish you're looking at. The information given isn't really for young children either, even though this book is listed as being for children.
I really liked this as a nonfiction children's book. The photos are gorgeous and might help to interest little ones in a marine or biology career. Getting excited about our earth and it's oceans is important to making sure it's cared for and protected. There are also some nice tidbits of information to educate the kids.
