An amazing book for all ages. In my family we are all NC born and bred and have great respect for Orrin Pilkey and now his son Charles. The book is very well-written and illustrated - much better than most books.
A beautifully illustrated and informative book that every family visiting the beach should have.Lots of information for children of all ages as well as a dose for the parents! Truly a good beach-read.
I have searched for just such a book to help my 7 grandkids explore the beaches of North and South Carolina...this one more than meets my greatest expectations! As a former homeschooling mom I love the way it is divided into bite size lessons . It's content is appropriate for all ages. This is one of the very few times I have bothered to go back and write a review of something I ordered. That's how much I appreciate this book.
I wish this book was around when I was a scout leader. I bought it for myself so I can do some experiments with my nephew and nieces this summer. It is not just for children - I enjoyed reading it and plan to take it to all my trips to the beach.
Not your average lesson plan book but a great way for families to learn about beach processes and things they will see there. The science, text and illustrations are excellent! I recommended to our Town Council at our beach town!
Everything I have ever wondered about while walking the beach and nicely illustrated. A child's quest for wonder and information is answered in this book, now I want one about rivers and streams.
This is a great book for young readers and adults, easy to read, and has a lot of beautiful colored pictures and resources.
