I love this series. The charachters are well developed, the vocabulary is rich, and the adventure is high, and it never gets boring. I reccomend this series for anyone between 12 and 18.
This book is not one to disappoint. In fact I am a slow reader and I was able to read this book all the way through on a five hour flight! Muchamore's best writing characteristic is his characters they are deep and REAL which makes this book and all his others excellent beyond comparison. In fact I ordered some of his other books from England because they were not available in US.
My 13 year old son can't get enough of Robert Muchamore. I've been trying to get him to use his new Kindle, but he is so wrapped up in Cherub books!! Can't wait for the rest of the US to wake up and see what they've been missing in Muchamore!
I personally have not read this, but my son has. He absolutely loves this series. He reads the books as fast as I bring them home for him. He said this book is very engaging and he can't wait to hear what happens next. He's made this book sound so great that I might just have to read it myself. This is a hardcover book, so it is tough enough to handle what he does to it, which usually involves throwing it around plenty while in his backpack.
The DealerThe Dealer is a sequel to the first book, The Recruit, from the CHERUB series. If you liked the first, The Dealer is three times more exciting. This book is about Miami and illegal drug transportation. James had just finished from his last mission, then a few weeks later he was called in for another one that was even more dangerous and difficult.Miami has always been the drug capital of the world, James was sent on a mission there because a cocaine dealer, and professional boxer, Keith Moore had been importing and exporting drugs more than usual. The reason that they sent James was because he needed to befriend his son Junior Moore and be a street dealer for Keith. He needed to do this so James would be around their house, while hanging out with Junior, and be able to plant bugs and cameras to figure out when his next deal was, but there were some men that Keith had scammed and they are coming after him. This book is upbeat, exciting, and has another side story along with it. I recommend this book to anyone who likes action/adventure books, and for people who like comedy.By: Tristan Litzo
The Debate: People are going to argue over whether it's appropriate for pre-teens and teens to be reading about drug use, "snogging" (making out for us Americans), generally being nasty little wretches (bane of society), etc. While I can't claim to be particularly thrilled with how everything in the book panned out - and I was quite annoyed with several sections - all things considered, it's probably worlds "cleaner" than anything they'd (12-14 yr olds) find on TV. In that sense, if you're worried about something your kid might read, try it yourself and then make a decision based on your own beliefs and opinions rather than 2nd hand info from an reviewing stranger.Minor annoyances: Hazards of reading a teen book: high school/ middle school drama. Plotting was kinda far-fetched. The chapter titles are in a relatively hard to read font. I know it's there for the "cool" effect, but eh, I just file it under "minor annoyance."Good Stuff: There's an interesting cast of characters here. They're not perfect. They do make mistakes.Cool concept. Kids get to be spies. Sweet. The minorly confusing: There are a lot of characters, but the author does a nice job of providing brief introductions to each in case you jump into the series beyond book one. The target audience is probably 11-14 but some content seems aimed much higher (drug references, poor decisions) and other content seems aimed much lower (silly kid humor, ie. burping contest). Conclusion: I'll probably give more books in this series a chance. It's one of those rare YA finds that will appeal to young males as well as females. Those tend to be a little hard to find.
I have never picked up a book series and have been so amazed by words on paper. Robert Muchamore has a serious skill for making you feel as if you are standing right in the middle of these stories.I originally borrowed the book serious from my cousin but they were just so good I had to buy my own set as I couldn't stop reading them.Class A is another Robert Muchamore book that you will plough through without even realising how much you have read and at that stage you will realise your done. Its also the best sequel to the first book!Stop reading this review and go buy it!!!!
My 12 year old really enjoys this series. I have had the hardest time finding books he really enjoys. He devours these books!! He reads them in a week or two. No more fighting over his reading homework!! As soon as he finished the first he wanted the next. He loves the story line and characters.
