Kaplan’s most recent Guide to the SAT Subject Test for U.S. History has a different cover, but the four practice exams and the review of U.S History are exactly the same as the four practice exams from the 2013-2014 Kaplan’s Guide.Even the two mistakes from the 2013-2014 guide, which were the same mistakes made in the Kaplan’s 2011-2012 Guide, remain. 1) The table to convert a raw score to a scale score has a typo for a raw score of 53. 2) The paragraph on the spoils system on page 213 is factually incorrect regarding the Mugwumps.Thousands of students use this guide and get better scores on the S.A.T. U.S. History Exam because this guide has helped prepare their predecessors properly for the exam. My reason for the low rating is that the guide is the same as the previous issue, and they didn't even bother to fix the errors. My point is that you don’t need the updated version when the 2013-2014 guide has the same questions and the same review of U.S. History. The four practice questions at the end of each review chapter are also the same, too. This may also be true for the 2011-2012 Guide, but I didn’t compare that one side by side as I did with this one.The only differences between this guide and the 2013-2014 guide, aside from the cover, is a few cosmetic changes in the first few pages of the book. The box on Page 5 citing the average score for college-bound seniors has also changed - people are getting better scores.
