In the follow-up to Abbi Glines’s #1 New York Times bestseller Until Friday Night—which bestselling author Kami Garcia called “tender, honest, and achingly real”—three teens from a small southern town are stuck in a dramatic love triangle.Willa can’t erase the bad decisions of her past that led her down the path she’s on now. But she can fight for forgiveness from her family. And she can protect herself by refusing to let anyone else get close to her. High school quarterback and town golden boy Brady used to be the best of friends with Willa—she even had a crush on him when they were kids. But that’s all changed now: her life choices have made her a different person from the girl he used to know. Gunner used to be friends with Willa and Brady, too. He too is larger than life and a high school football star—not to mention that his family basically owns the town of Lawton. He loves his life, and doesn’t care about anyone except himself. But Willa is the exception—and he understands the girl she’s become in a way no one else can. As secrets come to light and hearts are broken, these former childhood friends must face the truth about growing up and falling in love…even if it means losing each other forever.

I usually absolutely love Abbi Glines books, however I had several issues with this particular book. First, the price for this book was outrageous, and it was utterly ridiculous that an actual paperback was cheaper. Regardless of this fact I love the author so I paid the large price thinking I would get what I paid for. The story was great and I really enjoyed it until it abruptly ended leaving me with questions and I doubt this is a two part book and if it's is I won't be buying the next one at these prices. I am truly disappointed and if I hadn't read the entire book I would return it, since it clearly wasn't worth the price.

This was a VERY boring book to read. Was not worth the money at all. VERY drawn out. I'm not sure what's happening to Abbi, but her writing has gone down hill the last couple books she's released. I used to be a big fan of her books but lately they've been a big disappointment. I hate to say it but this will be the LAST book I purchase of hers. Not worth the money anymore.

So I am a huge Abbi Glines fan. I own and have read every book she has published. I will continue to read every book she publishes but I have to say this one was to much drama for me. I feel the first book in this series was better but overall I like her other series better.Gunner and Willa are childhood friends reconnecting after Willa moves back to live with her grandma after trying to live with her selfish, spoiled, mother for six years. Brady is also close friends with Willa and Gunner and there was a bit of a triangle crush that went on when they were kids.Spoilers....Willa is a wreck quite frankly she made some bad choices and tragic things happened, but she takes the guilty martyr routine way to far. Especially when I knew she wasn't really at fault. She becomes a broken record on why she can't get close to anyone, and why she is sad, and why she is bad...got old.Gunner has a very dysfunctional family and it gets worse, and worse as the story goes on. It gets to the point were you just detach and start to laugh cause it is so over the top dramatic. The sad part is that because of all this drama the leads never really get together till the very end and then it's just told to you at the end.End spoilers....Every now and then I think Ms. Glines decides not to hold back on any dramatic, soap opera, tragedy that can be written and she decides to use them all in the book she is currently writing. This book also has almost no steamy scenes it's very PG. If this all sounds like something you would like then enjoy!

We all make mistakes, it's human. But what do you do when a mistake costs you everything, including your freedom? For Willa Ames, the answer is to run back home to her Nonna and the town of Lawton. She left six years ago to live with her mom and was never allowed to come back for a visit. Which meant her two best friends, Brady and Gunner, got left behind also. They're all grown up now, and so are their feelings. When Brady and Gunner see Willa again they feel far from friendship for her, and they both want their shot at being with her. But six years ago they made a pact that neither of them would ask her to be their girlfriend, and it doesn't seem like the new Willa is even willing to give them a shot. None of that stops both Brady, and Gunner from trying to win her affections though.I was nervous to start this because I'm not a fan of angsty love triangles, but Abbi Glines surprised me with how she did this triangle. It wasn't full of a lot of drama and fighting, and for a YA everything was handled pretty maturely. Sure, there was a few parts that had some drama in it, but not nearly as much of the book as I was expecting. I really liked how these three characters acted throughout the book.Willa may have only been seventeen but she had been through something that no one, of any age should ever have to go through. The way she handled it, though, is what made me like her character. She really tried to change for the better and her struggle during this story made her very easy to relate to. My heart broke for her so many times and I just loved to get to see her finally have her HEA.I pretty much knew right away which man she was going to choose, so it wasn't honestly a big secret for me. But for those that don't figure it out I think you will love the guessing game that's through most of the book. Especially since you get to see a lot of each character, and it really makes you feel for all of them. The only issue I had was the ending, but it wasn't anything big. I just wanted there to be a little more time spent bringing everything together so that it didn't feel like it was such a sudden ending.Overall, the way Abbi was able to take this YA novel and make it so real was truly wonderful. There wasn't any over the top drama, only real life situations that any teenager can find themselves apart of. I am almost positive I know who the next book will be about so I am dying to get my hands on that!

Under the Lights has left me bewildered. I really enjoyed West and Maggie's story, so I was looking forward to this one. Something felt off about it from the beginning. I never connected to the characters, and I was very confused about the love triangle...that wasn't supposed to be a love triangle. I ran across a lot of phrases and sentences that didn't make any sense to me. I re-read them several times, to make sure. Maybe there were typos, and they threw me way off. I liked Willa, Gunner and Brady's history. Willa and Gunner both have had struggles in their family life, and I really liked their close connection from the time they were kids. For me, the story felt erratic and rushed at times. The ending felt odd, and I do remember thinking the same with Maggie and West too. I am a big Abbi Glines fan, and I have loved her previous books. I know this is just one of those times when I don't connect with a story or characters.
