The oldest recorded account of Bigfoot dates all the way back to 986 AD by famous Viking explorer Leif Ericson and his men. Upon their first landing in the New World the Norsemen wrote about manlike beasts that towered over the Vikings. These beasts were distinctly different than the natives they encountered. They wrote that these beasts were “horribly ugly, hairy, swarthy, and with great black eyes.” The Vikings called these ape-like bipedal beasts Skellring. The Skellring lived in the woods, had a foul smelling odor, and a deafening shriek. Leif had many encounters with the Skellring before departing from the island. Bryan Sykes, a professor of human genetics at Oxford University who recently embarked on a project to DNA test any or all available evidence for the existence of Bigfoot, said belief in Bigfoot-like beasts is a very consistent feature across cultures — "so much so that I have found indigenous people not even bothering to question their existence as they are so much a part of everyday life." The following book is the accumulation of years of research following my encounter. At the time I was looking for others who had experiences similar to mine. It was the only form of therapy I could find that eased my anxiety. I refused to go to the town’s only therapist. In a small town like this everyone would have known and it would have served as cause for a black mark on my family. After years of researching Bigfoot, the Yeti, and Sasquatch I have collected hundreds of accounts. Some I believe to be true and some I believe to be false claims of people looking for their names in print or their face on a TV screen. This book is the accounts I believe are most certainly true.

Thank goodness these gossip stories were only 66 pages long because I couldn't take any more of it! I felt as though most stories were just rehashed & twisted versions of what I've read elsewhere. I think that the author heard 3rd hand information about a Bigfoot story somewhere, put it into his own words, & printed it as fact. Stories were sensationalized to grab the readers' "fear" instinct so we would buy his other books. I'm convinced that no actual personal interviews were conducted with those whom experienced these events. Most stories ended with something along the lines of: "The people would have been killed if the Bigfoot had gotten to them...." This is just an assumption on the part of the author, or perhaps the "victims." News Flash: If Bigfoot DID want you, he'd have you! Skip this entertainment hype & buy scientifically researched books like Dr. Jeff Meldrum's "Sasquatch - Legend Meets Science." You will be much more informed, and this information is based on fact, not hysteria.
I've been reading a lot about cryptids lately. I got this one because of the fairly high reviews. I wasn't overly thrilled with it. I really liked that each chapter describes a separate encounter that someone had. It is a lot of fun to read all these different accounts.However, the book is not written very well. There are a lot of added superfluous words and sentences that seem to be there just to lengthen the book. There are also a lot of editing mistakes. There are many places where 2 words pushed together without space between them. Many of the contractions are written with a space between the word and the apostrophe, like this (don ' t). I'm sure that these are because I read the Kindle version, but it should have been edited before the Kindle version was put on sale.
I was expecting a large, detailed book written on a scholarly level. What I received has 10 stories in it which are written on a 5th grade level. Save your money and don't get ripped off like I did.
Already read most of this sort of thing in the books by David PaulidesHaving read the books by David Paulides 411 books, this doesn't come close.The phenomenon of Bigfoot behind behind the disappearance of people who are hiking or camping is a scary one- but i have already read the books by these other authors so i don't know why anyone would pay for a book that has rehashed stories from other storiesVery disappointed to now buy a book and read someone else's stories in these Jerome Kelly books
Blandly written and not very interesting. The encounters described are so full of holes that they barely qualify as a tall tale. I am not sure what the author was aiming for here, but he missed it.
most of these short storys were taken from other reports, that Ive read thru BFRO. The majority of these were just encounters and not attacks.So most of these reports were shortened and edited for this small book. Most of these are not the complete story so be aware of that.
Interesting stories that could have been better with some editing. Would like to have had more information on the events, unfortunately the stories read like they're retold from short blurbs that ran in the National Enquirer.
This book has a few tales of encounters that border terrifying but then the next tale will make you wonder why it was even printed because it shows no evidence of the phenomenon at all. Just hunches. It's about half and half of that then throw in four or five classic "filler" tales that most people interested in this phenomenon already know and you have this book.
