I have used Math Minutes as an enrichment math for my child since his first grade year. Most math programs (with exception of Saxon) teach math by topics without much, if any, review of previous math concepts taught. Math Minutes is a short, ten minute review of varied math lessons. I was highly recommend Math Minutes as an enrichment math.
I first bought the 4th grade level math minutes and used it as morning seat-work for my students. It worked wonderfully at keeping my students busy and enhancing their skills. I love the math minutes so much that I bought 5th and 6th grade level (I teach 6th grade). I am going to start my students out at the beginning of the year with the 4th grade level book and have my students work up to the 6th grade level book.
I buy these math minutes books every summer for the grade that my child will be entering in the fall. It isn't much to ask a kid to do a few minutes of math, and it makes a big difference. Helps them keep caught up, and not lose any knowledge over the summer. Makes life easy for a busy mom.
Great for days with no homework. Each page is a series of problems, which run the wide variety of math problem types. I like the quick assignment so no complaining boy, and it is appropriate for 6th grade. My son struggles in some areas of math, and this small book helps me "diagnose" the types of problems which he needs help with. Problems that he has no clue about we work on, until he gets the concept.
I've used Math Minutes from 4th grade on up. Had I found them earlier, I would have started earlier. They are excellent books to use to bridge the summer brain drain time between school years. I get the book for the grade going in, not the last one finished.
Great daily review for my math challenged son. The diversity of problems on each page help my sone practice swttching problem solver gears. The problems are not too hard but enough of a challenge to keep him interested but not overwhelmed.
Ditto everything other people said about this book. I am a 6th grade math teacher who works exclusively with autistic and learning disabled kids, so I have kids that need lots of repetition, even with stuff they previously mastered. This book is great for a warmup every day or every other day to keep their skills sharp without needing to spend an entire day going back and redoing something they learned a year ago.
I absolutely love this book! I homeschool my kids and we use Math Minutes each morning when we begin school. I think it gives the kids' a great variety of useful math skills and keeps them sharp in the necessary operations. I will definitely buy the next grade when we need it.
