Incredible book--riveting and informative text (who knew Grizzly 399 and her cubs was such a compelling story?)--and the most stunning photos of grizzlies in the wild. Everyone who cares about wildlife should buy this book as a vote to save the Grizzlies of Yellowstone. Highly recommended.
The book is wonderful, at least for an animal lover like me. It's a perfect coffee table book as well. Some of the photos are absolutely amazing. I'm definitely NOT going to put this book on a shelf, but will leave it out for my visitors to also enjoy.
This is a beautiful book about the Grizzlies of Grand Teton National Park. The photo's of the bears and the Teton region are fantastic! This is a beautiful land which my family has the privilege to live in and enjoy. If you love bears this is beyond a must have book
This was even better quality than I expected. I was surprised at how heavy it was and still free shipping with Prime! The photos in the book are such excellent quality. I gave it as a gift to my parents and they absolutely loved it!
Amazing book! definitely no mere coffee table book! I both profited from and engaged emotionally with the author's tales of the Yellowstone grizzlies. Lots of info about the ecology and biology of these bears, sound science evaluating the changes to the park itself as the result of climate change and how these changes have forced grizzlies to adapt. Lots and lots of facts... but presented in a conversational, enjoyable way rather than a dry pedantic way.Although I described the volume as a "non-coffee table" book, the dimensions are about 11 by 13, with stunning full-page color photos on most every page. The beautiful photos of bears - especially momma bears with babies - make this the kind of book I would recommend to anyone who has children who enjoy listening to mom or dad explain the photos while sitting cozy on a lap. Great job, Todd. If I can get my kid home from college, I'll sit her on my lap and game on for sure!
This is a spectacular book about grizzlies in Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Park. Photos taken by Tom Mangelsen and story written by Todd Wilkinson tell the story of the bear's survival. Every page is breathtaking!! Anyone who has been to these parks knows about bear 399.
Beautifully done and a great coffee table book. The bears of Yellowstone and the Tetons are a joy to watch and enjoy. The question of baiting the bears for the amazing pictures has been a potential issue but the book is well worth the risk.
I bought this book for my dad for Christmas. He is a Grizzly bear enthusiast so I thought he might like it. He actually LOVED it! The photos were incredible and made you feel like you were getting up close with these amazing animals. He said he would always treasure this book...& the photos were taken in his favorite national parks.
