This book is very abundant in resarch and exploration of the link between animal abuse and intimate violence. Addtionally, they focus on children and pet-care programs in the latter part of the book. This portion is signifcant since these programs assist in preventing further domestic violence and animal abuse. Frank Ascione and Phil Arkow produced a very good book, and this book should be read by all within the domestic violence field, vetererians, and law enforcement officials.
I purchased this book to learn about this subject. And learn I did... It is as a matter of factly written, right from the start! Explains the NEED for all agencies to work together to fight child abuse-animal abuse- and domestic violence .Each agency see's the abuse to a child, they need to pay attention to any pets and their condition and the conditions of anyone else in the household. Animal Control also needs to keep their eyes open,Veterinarians also the list goes on.The public needs to take its head out of the sand, and say something to protect the kids the women or men and pets who are victims of Domestic Violence...These victims need help,we all need to help them, stop judging them,WE need to realize they are trapped in an awful situation---sometimes its life or death!!! Today the police can help in ways that used to be non-exsistant .It is hard to read about abuse , but its real,we can no longer pretend it doesn't happen. It probably happens right next door...
It usually takes me awhile to read through books such as this, but with the topic and everything that was presented, I was interested enough to finish the book, and research more.
Very satisfied!!
