I had read the Little Blue Reasoning Book by the same author, and appreciate his love for solid reasoning skills, so I ordered The Little Green Math Book. I am also very happy with this book. I am no expert, but feel that these skills are not covered in our school curricula, or not covered decently... I wish I had learned this content in grade school, high school, college and graduate schools, but it’s never too late... Brandon Royal: please keep writing.
Good math skills never go to waste. "The Little Green Math Book" is a fine collection of information, and an invaluable resource. Also in the same series is "The Little Gold Grammar Book", which looks into the main uses of grammar.
this is a good book for those who wanted to be able to brush up on their math that they are most likely to use in a business or in an applied world setting. there are some neat sections of condensed conceptual descriptions of math then the focus is on consumer or business or some basic social science math with a little bit on how to present math to others graphically. nice applied BASIC math book. good quizzes to test a person weak and strong points. -- I would not want this as my ONLY math book though that is for sure even for the basics.
I'd just like to state for the interest of any reader of this book that there are infact errors within the writings.Page 18 for example has the same formula stated for both the increase and decrease of percentages. Nowhopefully, if you managed to catch the mistake you should easily be able to rectify the error. The formulafor the increase in percentage in not very different from the decrease, however, the author or publisher made the mistake ofusing the decreasing formula for the increasing as well. How #2 on page 18 should have been written is thus: [(New-Old)/Old](120-100)/100
