I would recommend it for people who want in-depth review, but not much more informative than other prep books. The math section is about 100 pages, most of it is stuff you already know (simple concepts). It has numerous questions, including groups of questions after each of its chapters. I took 3 tests from it, and they were relatively consistent, with my raw score for each section only shifting about 2 or 3 points.However, I found the writing portion to be very small, and it didn't provide much help in only one chapter, compared to about 100 pages in math. I was disappointed that the writing section of the practice tests were very inaccurate. For some reason, after taking all 4 tests, my writing score was only 45-50, very far off from where they should have been. I have taken 2 other practice tests, one from College Board after I registered, and I got 65. Why the 20 point difference? The writing section was way too difficult, and other books I used also had my score at 65-70.The other sections of the book were in fact accurate, but a 20 point difference is very disappointing.
Math section is frustrating and confusing. First, the organization of this section is very confusing. In answer keys, instead of showing how to work the problem, it instead points to a test taking tactic or math concept. So, you are constantly flipping throughout the book to find that reference point.The biggest problem is that they don't show how to work out the practice problems - either in the diagnostic pre-test or in the workbook section (haven't gotten to the full-length tests at the back). Bought this for my daughter. She understands the math underneath the problems and even the tactics; what she needs help with is navigating the tricky wording of the PSAT question style. This book does nothing to assist with that.I will be purchasing something else and would not recommend this book as a study guide.

I am wondering how many times a student can take the SAMPLE tests on the CD that comes with Barron's PSAT/NMSQT 17th edition?There are two full length tests that can be taken either "timed" or "un-timed". I am wondering if I purchase this book, can I use the CD tests for more than one student in my family? How many times can a student take the SAMPLE tests on the CD?
Bought this for my daughter after this was recommended in a forum. she seems to like it so far & is helping her to prepare
