Hegel wrote his Phenomenology in 1807. But his career really began with his critical essay of Kant which was published in 1802, when Hegel was 32 years old. What you'll get here is something better than any commentator can give you concerning Hegel's take on Kant. Hegel outlines a "20-point" logic for moving beyond Kant and toward developing true "determinate" categories. You'll need to bury yourself in pages 67 to 97 . This is how Hegel understood Kant at the Beginning of his career. I found the essay superb. Highly recommended.
