bought this book to read to gain understanding with my 2 year old grandson who has had some "special needs" with forms of Apraxia/Autism per Dr diagnosis. this book was recommended, i did read some but then gave it to my daughter and family to use on a day to day basis. Highly recommended by my grandson's ST/OT workers.
This book is great for students as well as for parents who want to understand their child's language delay or communication difficulties. It's written in easy to understand language and explains communication disorders well. It also includes information on how the parent can interact to effectively supplement speech services.
Simply put this book has great advice and insight that is presented in a very simple and straight forward manner. It helped us understand so much about our boy's behavior and language skills. It was so great to finally get a clear answer on how to work with him to improve his skills. We LOVE this book.

This book is beautifully illustrated, easy to read, and wonderfully organized. It provides a lot of great ways that parents can facilitate communication from their non-verbal children. I purchased this book as a student studying speech-language pathology and I've seen many of the methods in this book in my classes and in my experiences.
My son's speech pathologist suggested that we read this book. It's informative like a college textbook, but easy to follow and had nice illustrations. The content has helped me understand my son's speech disorder much more clearly and well worth the money.
By far the best book I've read for anyone who loves or works with autistic children. Clear, concise language; no academic jargon; very good insight into our special kids; tips and activities that are easy to understand and remember, and most importantly, produce results!
