Now, just to be clear; this rating is NOT due to the plates to color, it is due to the fact that the author "artist" Alice Balin and the company "Bluehill Publications" have mislead the buyer! We could not locate the "publisher" anywhere on the internet, despite the prominent internet address on the back of the book. We did find erotica by blue hill publishers...yipes! My husband purchased this for me as a birthday present as he knows my love of hummingbirds and anything natural that I can do. The plates in the book are lovely...they are also copies of works originally done by John Gould; (14 September 1804 – 3 February 1881). I discovered all of this while researching to find how to color the pictures. Ms. Balin should have given credit in her book to the actual artist of the works that are stated as her own. I will color the pictures as done by Mr. Gould, but I am very disappointed in the fact that this somehow made it through and is sold as done by Ms. Balin. I certainly hope in future that does a better job of fact checking the things they put on their site for sale. I have always loved being able to purchase through , but this is very discouraging as a buyer.

This coloring book has beautiful botanical drawing of hummingbirds and their flowers. Each picture has the name of the bird, and sometimes the flower. I gave this as a gift to my Dad and he loves it. He is able to find the original picture or bird online so he can color it exactly as it should be. The pages are not tear out, unfortunately. This makes it a lot harder to color the pages and save them.
I love this book. It's elegant and isn't busy like many of the coloring books out there.
