The only issue I have with this pamphlet is it is too limited. I have already seen too many species that are not found in it. I have an iPhone and recently discovered the Audubon (by State) App which is everything I will ever need.

This should have been a great pick. It's durable, easy to read, easy to fold out, easy to search, and easy to carry. Being portable isn't enough. The limited selection makes it a second choice. It's understandable that not every species can be listed for an easy-to-carry fold-out. But some omissions are astonishing. For example, there is no hairy or downy woodpecker, although you'll probably see one of those in your backyard. There are no female species, which takes a large percentage of the total bird-watching experience. The Red- winged Blackbird has a significant difference between male and female. The authors should have added a few of the pairs, like the Red-wing, where you'll probably spot both male and female, and you'll want to know that it's not 2 different species. The book could better use its pages by adding more common species, and taking off the "sanctuaries" listing. Then we'd have a better pamphlet for local hikes and backyard use.For a more handy guide, try the Birds of Texas Field Guide by Stan Tekiela.

My 7 and 9 yr old granddaughters are just getting into bird watching and feeding at their new home and are so excited to see their backyard birds and be able to find them in the book! Is worth the price and much more!

A great source for identifying Texas birds from your back porch. Can keep within easy reach as it is heavily laminated to protect it from weather. An inexpensive great gift for birdwatchers.

This light-weight laminated pamphlet is perfect to take along when I play golf so I can identify what I see and mark them with a Sharpie. It adds another dimension to playing golf that my husband and I really enjoy, watching the wildlife.

I have over 20 species of birds come into my feeders each year and not even half of them are in this pocket guide. As an example they only list the morning dove. I have them, ring neck and white wing doves here. Was very disappointed.

Perfect small quick reference guide to the birds you see on your hike through nature. Not as bulky as carrying a birding book which of course makes your backpack or pocket a lot lighter!!!

While this is not the whole thing, it's a good way to start figuring out who's at the birdfeeder. The colors and descriptions are accurate and I have ID'd about 5 species, so far.
