So I was excited to get this book, because there is no doubt in my mind that Christians don't acknowledge the reality of the supernatural world as much as they should, myself included. This book does a fairly good job of compiling stories from many different firsthand witnesses of supernatural occurrences in their lives that reminded them that there is more to life than meets the eye. The author, James Scott Bell, has successfully created a fast paced, intriguing read that is sure to stir up more interest at the very least.I found some of the material to be a little odd and "eh", but I want to be careful not to discredit someone just because it sounds off to me. I am no skeptic about the goings on in the spiritual realm, and have witnessed many things myself. I do think I personally would have enjoyed the book more however if the stories had all pointed much more clearly to the heart of God and not just some bizarre, extraordinary event.So my verdict on this particular book is, it would not be at the top of my list to recommend. If you do choose to read it, go in praying that God will reveal His heart to You in each story, and remember that you have nothing to fear if you are hidden in Him.I received this book to read and review from Bethany House Publishers.
Heaven Touching Earth by James Stuart Bell - my reviewI just finished reading Heaven Touching Earth by James Stuart Bell, I absolutely LOVED it! It is filled with true stories of miracles. Basically each chapter is a testimony by a different person who has experienced a miracle, angels helping out, or some type of Heavenly encounter that can not otherwise be explained. A car that drives itself, an Angel that prevents a wreck, and pulls another out of a wreck, prays for a married couple who are having problems. A woman who was expected to die from uterine cancer but goes on to have three more children! These are just some of the stories that you will read about. Forty-three different accounts of miracles, Angels,and/or Heavenly encounters! I tremendously enjoy hearing or reading testimonies of God still working miracles today. Some people may find it hard to believe all the different stories that the author and others have shared, but I know that such things do still happen.I have had experiences of my own with miracles or things that others would have a hard time believing. So yes I am believer! Jesus is still performing miracles today and God is sending his Angels to help out where needed.I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes to hear (read) testimonies of miracles and Angels. This book is a wonderful collection of stories by individuals that have been touched by God in a special way. Some are stories of miraculous healing, some are tales of provision and some are about protection. I have experienced some of these God moments in my life as have many people I know. But I always enjoy reading about other peoples' experiences like this. I am especially encouraged by healing stories because there is so much sickness out there. I was especially interested in a story about a woman who was cured of incurable cancer because I have a childhood friend who is battling cancer right now and I pray constantly for his healing. I read this book straight through like a novel because it was so compelling. Each chapter is an individual story by a different person but they are like potato chips -- you can't eat just one.I highly recommend this book to everyone. Everyone, whether they realize it or not, longs for a relationship with God and these are stories of relationship.I received a copy of this book from Bethany House in exchange for a fair and honest review. Those who have read and enjoyed James Stuart Bell’s book “Angels, Miracles, and Heavenly Encounters: Real-Life Stories of Supernatural Events” will be pleased with this book. This compilation includes a wide variety of Heavenly interventions and occurrences that can only be called miracles.Each chapter is a narrative written by the individual who experienced the miraculous event or as told to another writer. Miraculous events take place under every kind of circumstance, to all kinds of people and all over the world. As in the previous book, there are a few incidences of demonic possession included. Some readers will find these sections uncomfortable.Perhaps the outstanding take away thought from this book is the statement that God does not perform miracles because we deserve it or because we are good; He does it because He is good. These stories of His loving mercy toward ordinary people are proof that any child of God can be healed, helped and delivered from evil.I was given a free copy of this book by Bethany House for the purpose of review. I recommend it for adult readers, but would use caution allowing young teens to read it.
