Chadwick was an early force in the reintroduction of organics into horticulture, creating gardens of exquisite beauty and fertility, mainly in California, in the 60s and 70s. Through his deep connection to Nature, coupled with his tutorship under Rudolf Steiner and studies in some of the great gardens of Europe, Chadwick developed what he called the "biodynamic French Intensive system." Chadwick was a practicing Shakespearian actor, a painter, a musician, a mythologist and a storyteller, and brought all these parts of himself into the creation of what he considered the greatest art: becoming a simple gardener.

Chadwick's terminology and concepts are as unique as were his actual gardens. If one's interest is to discover how to grow the best plant imaginable and the most productive garden imaginable Alan Chadwick is THE guide. A 'how to' book for beginning to transform the gardener into a GARDENER - in conscious cooperation with the cosmic creator we call nature. The greater the readers' meditative, imaginative and thinking capacities the more she/he will find in these talks.
This book should be read as a transmission rather than a 'how-to' manual to biodynamic gardening. Alan Chadwick perfectly weaves storytelling with magic and anecdotes learned from Rudolph Steiner. The result is uplifting and beautiful. I heartily recommend this book and the companion Performance in the Garden, also by Alan Chadwick (Logosophia Books)
