I originally bought this book by accident because I thought my professor said that it was the required text. No later than 30 seconds after she said it I logged on and purchased it during her class only to find out that it was not required but recommended. I had it by my side when writing my first essay of the semester and will continue to use it throughout the rest of my college career.
This book is a concise distillation of the enormous Chicago Style Manual. Recommended for graduate students--particularly those who must use multiple citation styles.
I needed this for a class - it has SO much helpful stuff in it though. For anyone looking to improve their writing this book is a must. Very pleased
The book was helpful in getting better research done for my papers. It also helped with writing habits and styles that i struggled with in the past.
Outlines everything from summarizing, thesis forming, citing, and practically everything under the sun when it comes time to make that paper wonderful.
I gave this to my college freshman nephew who was thrilled with the help it provided on writing papers. He used the book the very day he received it.
I'm not trying to be a grammar Nazi, but I've already seen over 6 careless typos and misspellings after reading4 or 5 chapters. So far, I noticed two sentences with subject and verb disagreement issues. The book's authoritativestatus quickly becomes questionable especially when its author makes obvious spelling and grammar errors.I wish I knew the page numbers, but the book needs to get another thorough editorial review before its official publication.In addition, several ideas are redundantly repeated as if a student is trying to increase his or heressay's length by repeating the same concepts in paraphrased words.
