A well presented overview of habitat information for butterfly species to be encountered in New Mexico along with photos of the individual species in a very attractive format. As usual photos don't show all field marks clearly as do paintings in a field guide.

The author, Steve Cary, is by far the recognized authority on butterflies in New Mexico. Just one of the many wonderful things I love about this book is that he teaches us about some of the colorful explorers and naturalists who came to New Mexico in the early 1900s to collect butterflies. It is also a fantastic introduction to the geography and protected areas of New Mexico. It is a great companion guide for traveling around the state.

If you live in New Mexico and like butterflies, this is the book to have. It tells you where to find any butterfly that lives here. So far I have just used it as a help in identifying butterflies in my yard, but plan to use it in planning trips to other parts of New Mexico in the future.

The butterfly has inspired wonder and curiosity ever since humanity has laid eyes on it. "Butterfly Landscapes of New Mexico" takes a look at this awe-inspiring creatures of New Mexico, from New Mexico's self-proclaimed (and elsewhere proclaimed) Butterfly Guy. Looking at the habitat of these creatures, author Steven J. Cary brings readers a wealth of intriguing information. "Butterfly Landscapes of New Mexico" is a fine addition to any nature or science library collection.
