I was so excited to get my copy of Pollinator Friendly Gardening. Perfect timing for ordering my plants. My husband got ahold of it first. Finally got a chance to look at it when he wasn't. I love the beautiful pictures. The plant lists make it easy to reference to for my orders. And the "ask the expert" in each section has been very helpful and informative. I'm excited for spring. Great book.
This is an essential guide for anyone wanting to do more to make better habitats for pollinators while also improving their own yards/gardens. The photos are both informative and striking, and the text is formatted perfectly so the immense amount of well-researched material never seems daunting or academic. The Ask An Expert sections are great for more in-depth conversations on specific topics, but they are never dry or too professorial. The author clearly has a well-grounded grasp on the material, but is also an expert in conveying what could be incredibly dense information in a way that is fun, clear, concise, and most of all practical for any gardener no matter their gardening experience. She makes it easy to jump in as a beginner or enhance your own spaces as an advanced gardener.
Wonderful book with beautiful photographs and lots of good information about starting gardens that are bee friendly. I bought this book for my daughter who is very interested in the bee population and what we can do to save the bees because our gardens are dependent on the bees. With this book and another that I purchased, my daughter has started a pollinator garden for the bees to attract them and supply them with the necessary flowers and nutrients they need. Great book with good information.
Just received this book, though I doubt if I'll ever read it. The print size is so small, that anyone over 40 years old will require a magnifying glass and a spotlight to read it. Seriously, why would you make the print this small?
A garden can be your sanctuary. This book has beautiful photos along with great planting ideas for "your" sanctuary. I enjoyed the important information on how to attract pollinators, their care and feeding in addition to giving substitutes for pesticides and the section on Integrated Pest Management. If you are getting tired of your lawn, there are even some great ideas for that starting on page 51. I have several books I always refer to when gardening and this will be in my go-to library.
What a wonderful book! Information is so thorough and the pictures are beautiful. I am enjoying the "ask the expert" sections. I cannot wait until Spring!
This is a wonderful book. I'm involved with some groups helping a school work on a pollinating garden. Also involved with a local national park working on Monarch monitoring and getting ready to plan a period pollinating garden on their grounds. This has been a wonderful reference.
This is a clear cut book that is easy to read and has gorgeous photos to illustrate how to build and keep a pollinator friendly garden. My favorite part of the book is Chapter 4 - Sustaining Butterflies with Larval Host Plants. Truly lots of detailed and excellent advice for gardener and pollinator enthusiast alike. Rhonda Fleming Hayes also featured "Ask the Expert" sections where you can meet experts in the field that give excellent Q & A sessions within the book. I'm keeping this book as a reference on pollinator gardening and recommend it as a thoroughly positive resource for gardening to support pollinators.
