This book is wonderful. The illustrations are clear and concise. It is very well-organized and informative. Every page is full color and chock-full of hot tips. The book at full price is worth every penny!I teach Scratch Programming to elementary and middle school students, and I find this is one of the most approachable, useful, thorough and fun of all the books on Scratch I have found to-date.I recommend this book to all my students and their parents, and would also recommend it to anyone trying to learn or to teach Scratch. Thank you to the author for putting together such an excellent resource.
I'm teaching a group of elementary school students about programming using Scratch. Students range from grade 3 through 7. I bought this book for a few reasons: 1) to help ensure that I cover off the necessary material to teach the kids about programming; 2) to get some ideas for sample programs to use; and 3) to look for any helpful tips and tricks.The book has proven useful on all accounts. It's logical and easy to follow. I haven't used these projects directly in my teaching, but they've helped give me an idea about the complexity of a good sample project, for when I make up my own examples.I will be recommending this book to the students, as I think most of them would be able to work through it on their own.
Awesome beginners book for all ages! It teachers you the basics as well as more advanced coding in easy to read/follow color pictures and instructions! Well worth the money and very helpful.
This book made it easy for me to teach my kids some basics of programming using Scratch. The system makes programming easy and the projects in the book make it fun for the kids to learn. My 9-year old daughter actually asked for me to have "Scratch Class" for them once we got started!
A fine example of clear and easily understood writing to set you off on your computer programming journeys, regardless of age! A perfect textbook for any beginner, it will guide you through the initial understanding of basic concepts, and will have you running fun examples of Scratch code very quickly. I adopted Sean's book on my iPad as my first Scratch bible, and was very happy to be coding tricky programs with great results within a week. Highly recommended, and great value.
Great starter book: logical, practical, and understandable. This covers Scratch 1.4 and 2.0. Why bother with Scratch 1.4? It opens infinite possibilities. Definitely worth getting used.
Fantastic. I love the diagrams as well as the instruction. It opened a whole new world for my aught ear and myself in learning about the opportunities that Scratch can give.
My 10 year old twins love this book. They have used it to create some pretty amazing things on Scratch.
