i bought this book for references as an artist. that being said i'm disappointed in the fact that this book does not have all the species of butterflies or moths in it. even so it hold wonderful info on the life cycle of the species it has their sizes, typical coloration and other things of the sorts. the butterfly images are bright and colorful to and are sorted by continent.
This book is more than amazing. I already bought book called Insects and this one is great add to it. Wonderful illustrations and few sentences of description for every butterfly and moth, hard cover... Real treasure in my book collection!
My boys got me this beautiful book for me for when I was in the hospital. I love all the wonderful pictures and learning things I never knew before. Butterflies are special to my heart because my Mother loved them when she was alive.

Wonderfully clear & precise.....My only criticism is not enough Moths were included....But in all a very valuable reference book.
A good butterfly book. I wanted more of an ID type book, like a field ID book, still a good buy.
This is a part of the collection of butterfly books I am buying for a 5 year old and a 2 year old, budding scientists. I buy used generally, and with a purpose. This is a great book for what I intend as it is full of images and details about butterflies across the board. Eventually the kids will read the book themselves; in the meantime the parents and the children will be able to nurture their love of nature and gardening. The bird books were first.
