Since the art work is DaVinci's, the product is worth having and displaying. However, each piece is only a portion of the original in order to fit it into the 11.5 X 11.5 format. Therefore, great portions of each piece are missing- which greatly detracted from its value to me.
Whats great about this book? Well, I have the much larger Cabinet of Curiosities by Albertus Seba, and this much smaller book has enlarged images of butterflies and insects that in the Cabinet book lose their detail. The Cabinet book has pages of many, many butterflies, and although the whole image is great, you cannot see the details of the wing patterns, etc, which I love. Glad they made this little book, its a nice addition or companion to the Cabinet of Curiosities. And, of course if you just love butterflies, these antique illustrations from the 1700s will not disappoint.
