This is basically a summarized pamphlet with pictures and makes it easy to identify a butterfly species. Recently I went to the CT agricultural experiment station and the butterfly expert was using a similar type of document to identify butterflies. If it was good for him it is good for me. It gives basic info, if you want more you need to get a more detailed guide such ashttp://www..com/gp/product/0967379326/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00which I also got. I have become interested in attracting butterflies and hummingbirds and highly recommend this product.
I thought I was buying a short guide to the Butterflies and Moths; this is just a glossy pamphlet with pictures of only a few very common species. It is of minimal use for anyone who is trying to learn something about this group of species. Save your money here and buy the Peterson Guide instead.
I just started getting into butterflies, and keeping this right over my kitchen stove is helping me to easily identify the butterflies I see in the yard. So far, I've checked off six or seven of them. It will help with most of the butterflies and moths you're likely to see in New England. Good little "quick guide" that would tuck easily into a backpack for afternoon excursions, and weighs next to nothing. Made of a sturdy laminated stock, won't tear easily when put to the test.
