This volume completes the saga of the heroic fighting dolls of Angelic Layer in a fairly rushed way. The tirelessly foreshadowed identity of our heroine's mother finally came to pass, yet it was unsatisfying.Perhaps CLAMP had seen a longer arc in which to wrap this up at one point, but the denouement didn't fit well. The unbelievable character flaw that kept the family from reuniting sooner was a major letdown. The anime handled this twist far better.Please note that I feel Dark Horse did the best they could with this series. I have been very impressed with their handling of Cardcaptor Sakura and would strongly recommend all four volumes of that legendary series over the two volumes of this one.
The final manga volumes in the Angelic Layer series. CLAMP always knows how to perfectly wrap things up in their cute series like Kobato, sequel Chobits and- Angelic Layer! I absolutely LOVE how the manga endind compared to the anime. The reuinion between Misaki and her mother is more heart-warming, cute and Misaki acts like how a CLAMP character like her actually would in that situation then from the anime. The biggest thing for me though was who ended up with who. Thank you CLAMP for having those characters end up together like they should be! Now I know this makes it sound like I don't like the anime; no, I love it and own it! If you haven't already seen it, you need to! The manga ending just out beat the anime ending in so many ways. In short, its a great conclusion to a fantastic series!
