This book did the job. It was required for my wife's class and she was able to get all that she needed from it. The book came w/ an rental sticker when it was actually purchased. So the sticker takes a bit away from the looks. It also didn't come in the best of conditions, however function before form in this case.
This was a required text book for my graduate school nursing class on current issues in nursing. I found this book to be very readable and full of pertinent information. The only potential downside is the fact that this book can easily become outdated due to changes in legislation. Policy and politics are an ever-changing front. I highly recommend this book. It helps the reader understand how we came to this point in healthcare and how we can be most effective in changing the legislative climate. This book was interesting, I found myself reading beyond the assignment.
This text book was awful. Was required for my class, but I literally never used it. Poorly written, and the content was not applicable to my work. I sold back this book before my class was even over!
I had to purchase this book for my MSN health policy class. I can tell from the first several pages-- and scanning through other chapeters-- this book is written from a liberal perspective. What happened to being open minded to other points of view?? Oh, I know, that only pertains to conservatives.
A must have book for every nurse's library! Policy and Politics in Nursing and Health Care is the most comprehensive book of its kind. From nursing students to doctorally prepared nurses in clinical practice, education, research or administration, this book provides a wealth of information for all nurses. The U.S. health care system is changing at an unprecedented rate. It is important for nurses to be actively engaged in the political process which will determine health care delivery of the future. Policy and Politics in Nursing and Health Care will help nurses to learn about this process as well as how they can have a voice in shaping our health care system in order to provide quality, affordable and accessible health care for those in need.Colonel (Retired) John S. This book has given me a very good idea of policy and politics and how to go about reforming and changing policy. As a graduate nursing student with a very proactive mindset this has been very helpful in my education and will continue to be a great reference in my parctice.
Although I bought this as a required course textbook, I found it full of useful information for any professional nurse. I highly recommend it to all nurses to become more aware of how policy and politics affect our careers and practice.
This book was required for a Master's level class in Nursing Policy. It is a great book, easy to read and understand, with very short chapters. There is a lot of repetition among the chapters which helps to reinforce learning. The topics covered in the book are current and relevant to health care and nursing. Overall an interesting, educational, and even enjoyable book (as enjoyable as a text book can be).
