I have read all of Tia's books but this one spoke to me SO MUCH. The heroine of the book is 40 (I'm over 40!) and starting over which is such a great place to begin any story! Her writing is smart, twisty-turny, descriptive, funny and sexy as hell! The book reminds me SO much of the titles from Jackie Collins that I would sneak from my grandmother's bedside drawer. It was just a delicious 360+ page book that I couldn't put down and that I finished in 4 days. Bravo to Tia for representing strong well heeled black female characters in a positive light and carrying the torch. Waiting patiently for the sequel.
Totally enjoyed this book! While I must confess to initially being a little skeeved out by the age difference, it became very clear as the story progressed that Jenna and Eric were meant to be together.I absolutely loved Jenna. She was so quirky and awkward, but in the best way. As a former fashion editor and insider, she was NOTHING like I thought she would be. And Eric - sexy and passionate one minute, then a big man-child the next. But he loved him some Jenna. And they had the best friends. Billie and Elodie were too much fun, and such wonderful, supportive friends to Jenna. Tim was a real trip, but he was one person that Eric always knew he could count on to be in his corner. And with a mother like that damn Darcy Vale, he definitely needed that.I would love to know how the author came up with Darcy Vale's character. Such a nasty piece of work! She was so...heartless. And evil. Truly a character that you love to hate.Lovable characters and a great storyline set in one of my favorite cities all made for a wonderful story that I hated to see come to an end. My TBR collection stays on overflow, so I don't do a lot of re-reads, but I keep going back to this book and reading bits and pieces. Definitely looking forward to whatever is next!
I'm from the Sex in the City era, so I know what a solid tribe of girlfriends looks like in a work of fiction. Tia Williams nailed it! The friendships were solid. Jenna is vulnerable and genuine in both her glory and her mess. You will cheer for her to get the hot ass guy. I've never read passion scenes so real as the ones in this novel. Honestly what I loved is that I saw my own besties in each of these characters. Starting over after a hiatus in the workplace is never easy and Tia truly captures the nerve-wracking moments Jenna experiences. I know that anxiety. Life in the city shouldn't be so tough but for gals like Jenna and my crew, we make it work. Definitely looking forward to more from Tia Williams. She gets it! Poolside read for the ladies...bring wine!!!
I am not incredible interested in fashion writing -- I am fine looking at the pictures! I don''t really understand the world of fashion blogs and writers. Though I was eager for another book from Ms. Williams, once I started it, I was not sure I could related. But the characters were surprisingly developed, the language clear and inviting. And the love story -- I just didn't see it coming. I don't find enough of these -- books about a black girl that aren't really about racial crisis or overcoming the trauma of growing up black in America. WE NEED MORE OF THIS!!! Thank you, Ms. Williams!
I'm a newish mom with zero time to read and zipped through this juicy book in two days. The Perfect Find is a sexy tale of failing miserably (been there!), starting over, self discovery, love and choices. It's witty as hell with unpredictable twists and turns. Through out the book, you'll find yourself testifying and feeling Jenna's pain. We've ALL been there. The story is told with so much heart, so much depth ...you can't help but savor each page. This is a must-read on so many levels!
I loved EVERY minute of reading this book. I was drawn into the character's world and rooted for her as if she was my very own sisterfriend. This is my first time reading a book written by this phenomenal author but it won't be my last!
I've read all of Tia's novels and loved them all but this one is perhaps my fave. Being in my late 30's, this novel was totally relatable. Funny, sexy, captivating and human, I couldn't stop reading it and laughing out loud. It's about new beginnings, love, friendship, taking changes and ultimately, finding happiness.
If you liked Tia Williams' novel, The Accidental Diva, you are going to love The Perfect Find! The Perfect Find is fun, funny, and deliciously naughty. Williams' take on the life of a woman at a crossroads is infinitely relatable and you will see yourself and your besties reflected in some of the characters. Even if you're not a NYC girl, you will love reading about the ups and downs in Jenna's fast-paced life. The book is laugh out loud funny, but don't let the giggles fool you. Williams takes on some serious issues - everything from the perils of online dating to generational conflict in the workplace - but she does it in a way that makes you laugh and think at the same time. You will love this book!. And if your daughter gets jealous because you're having so much fun with The Perfect Find, gift her with Williams' young adult series, The It Chicks.
