I have been fascinated with folklore and mythology since my youth, and I am always glad to find a good book on the folklore and mythology of any people. This book is an excellent collection of stories from Japan. The first section is entitled Epics and Legends, and tells stories of the birth of Japan and how the world came to be what it is. The second section is entitled Folk and Fairy Tales, and has the more down-to-earth stories of luck and spirits, and how the world is and how it should be.Overall, I found this to be a very interesting book. I think that the tales included were well selected, and were very well translated. I really enjoyed the time I spent reading this book, and I do not hesitate to recommend it to you.
