This is an excellent book, covering not only wildflowers, but also trees, shrubs, and other classes of plants. I recommend this book to anyone wanting to learn the plants of the Santa Monica Mountains. The size and quality of the book also make it a good value for the price.
The mountains are bursting out with flowers right now and this is the time to get this book and take a hike. The color photographs make verifying i.d.s a cake walk.Milt McAuley was a charming local gentleman who used to lead highly regarded walks in the spring, during which he would regale walkers with the name and habits and folklore of each flower.I will note that during the non-flowering seasons of the year, this book mostly sits on a shelf.But for right here, right now? Perfect gift for Mother's Day in Los Angeles County. Unless I'm your mother. I already own a copy...
Excellent book to identify plants in the Santa Monica Mountains. Very good photographs. To understand the descriptions it does help to have some botanical knowledge but there is a good glossary.
this should definitely be reprinted
