Ideally, you are meant to carry this when hiking. It lets you easily identify many common species of trees seen in North America. There are colour drawings of the leaves and the typical backdrops of the trees. The latter let you make a long distance assessment, while the former is useful when up close and you can discern individual leaves.There is even a section with colour sketches of distinctive barks of such trees like beech, cedar, aspen and cherry.The trees covered here span the breadth of North America. Though the booklet does not include non-native trees, like the various Australian gums that are now common in California.

Waterproof booklet contains 11 pages of North American trees. Trees are grouped by leaves. Needle like leaves, simple leaves, and compound leaves. There is also a page on sub tropical and desert trees and the bottom of the page shows distinctive bark descriptions of North American trees. Explains how to identify leaf shapes and arrangements. Illustrations are colored drawings. Brief descriptions on each tree.

EXCELLENT SERIES. GOOD FOR FIELD IDENTIFICATION, ALSO GREAT FOR ARTISTS WHO WISH TO DRAW A SPECIFIC TREE OR PAINT ONE, TO GET A LOOK AT AN ACCURATE SPECIMAN. ALSO FOLDED NICELY TO OPEN OUT TO FULL SIZE, VIRTUALLY WEIGHTLESS, AND EASILY PACKABLE.EDUCATIONAL, CONVENIENT, WELL DONE AT A LOW PRICE. IMPERMEABLE TO WATER AND STAINS, PLASTICIZED SO WIPES CLEAN. REALLY GREAT! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

An interesting, but easily deceptive guide, since it does not give the geographical ranges of these trees, most of which cover restricted areas, so that a person will commonly assume a tree is a particular species simply because it looks like the image in the pamphlet and not like another that is not included. If you want a more accurate tree guide, get one for your region or state at least. Remember that there are hundreds of tree species in the U.S.

got this for my BF and he loves it. not as in depth as a field guide but alot less bulky and much more likely to go out in the field with him and the pamphlet is waterproof too which is really handy. He really likes it.

shipped fast and is what it say's it is. the guide has mostly leaves to desribe the tree's so it's not exactly what i expected but is still alot of good info and alot of tree's. wish it showed more bark myself but i would buy it again.

Perfect resource when out in the woods, they are waterproof so they won't get ruined. Store easily in my pack. There is so much information on this one card is unreal.

I love the information here... This is a light weight and excellent tool for those not familiar with identifying trees.
