Spunky, cute - a delightfully fun read! Once again, Jones manages to capture not only the drama of being a teen with great insight, but she does this while crafting well developed characters and an interesting story plot.Bella, her family and friends are quiet the interesting crew. Seriously, not a dull moment in this girl's life! I have to say, that while I really liked this series, I didn't love it like I did the Katie Parker series. That one had me laughing out loud often. Still, this one was interesting, fun and kept the pages turning! I do believe that the last half of Book 1 and Book 2 were my favorite parts of this series. Book 3 was also quiet enjoyable but Book 2 was the show stealer for me. Overall, a fun and entertaining read!***Note- A Charmed Life is 3 Books in 1, the whole series bound together!
I absolutely loved this series! Warning once you pick it up you'll never want to put it down! The series brilliantly written! I am age fourteen and I could easily relate to the main character Bella Kirkwood. A Charmed Life continues to get better each chapter! I admire the fact this book contains several genres, including; mystery, comedy, romance, action, and drama. Jenny B. Jones is hilarious and she knows exactly how to get my heart pounding with excitement. The mysteries are unsolvable and kept me guessing. Bella 's relationship and friendship with Luke is so sweet and romantic! I completely recommend this series! My best friend is currently reading it also she loves it so far!
Bella can't believe she has traded Macy's in Manhattan for Cows in Oklahoma. I mean, there's not even a Starbucks!Look, this is absolutely perfect for what it is: Perfect Chick & Beach lit. Sometimes you just want a book that makes you smile. And this is the equivalent of that movie you turn on when you want to stuff Ben & Jerry's into your mouth while sitting on the couch in your most comfortable (and therefore ugly) pajamas. I loved Bella's sarcastic comments. And thought the side characters were a lot of fun (her young step brother is cuteness personified).No, this is not a book that makes you think. It's not going to challenge you or take you on a path that's completely unexpected. But it will have you laughing out loud and smiling and just feeling happy upon finishing it. I'd highly recommend!
I can honestly say I have never read a book that made me laugh out loud so much in my life. After plowing through Jenny B. Jones Katie Parker series, I added all Jenny B. Jones books to my reading list.The story line isn't anything really unique; a girl from the big city has to move to hicksville when her mom remarries a farmer. What is unique is the voice Ms. Jones brings to the story. Between little character quirks, random comments made, and her way of phrasing things, I made short work of the series. The fact that Ms. Jones is a Christian writer is a big plus. It's rare for me to read Christian fiction that's so funny!Enjoyed the character and the setting like I always do in her books. Would definitely recommend!
Awesome book! Cover was smashed in a bunch and I was disappointed with the quality. I ordered it with just enough time to give as a gift and couldn't return it.I have given a copy of this book to so many of my friends! I love it! This is the only time I was disappointed with quality. I ordered a spare used one for myself and it was it better shape.
This was such a cute fun YA book! Clean read, and loved the dilemmas, mysteries, and the dilemmas that Bella faces and gets involved with. Luke, of course is an interesting H. Loved all the side stories and characters, the crazy family. Bella goes from being a NYC shopping queen, to living in Truman, in the 'sticks'. She is trying to adjust to a new family (her mother remarries), her absentee father, figuring out her long distance boyfriend, to being in the middle of 3 different mysteries/crimes. The resolution in each of the stories is kind of quick. In the last one, would have loved more of Luke. Their relationship was definitely a wonderful tease to the story. The attraction building throughout the 3 novels, until the final one, where we get a glimpse of their 'like'. Definitely some family issues that build throughout the 3 novels. Bella is learning what really matters, who her real friends are, what is 'real' and important, and figuring out her relationships with her family, her friends, and her love interests. All with doses of humor, suspense and fun. Her 'intuition' leads her right, except where her boyfriends are concerned. Fun, quick reads, that will leave you wanting more!
Jenny B. Jones is such a great author with fast paced books. I ordered this not realizing it was intended for a high school audience, but read and enjoyed it anyway.It has great Christian components sprinkled in that is good exposure for teenagers.
One word: Hilarious. I laughed and laughed so much to the point where I nearly cried. I love all the characters ( especially Ruthie ) and enjoyed the great comedy. Jenny B. Jones is a splendid Christian writer and hopefully we'll see more of her books. By the way this book consists of all three books from A Charmed Life Series. So definitely is a great buy for only 8 dollars!! And suitable for all ages....
