Download Free (EPUB, PDF)

This most widely used textbook in the field has been thoroughly revised and updated to reflect changes in the health care industry and the renewed focus on health care information technology initiatives. Two new chapters cover Federal efforts to enhance quality of patient care through the use of health care information technology and strategy considerations. Additionally, reflecting the increased focus on global health, the book features an international perspective on health care information technology. Case studies of organizations experiencing management-related information system challenges have been updated and several new cases have been added. These reality-based cases are designed to stimulate discussion among students and enable them to apply concepts in the book to real-life scenarios. The book's companion Web site features lecture slides, a test bank, and other materials to enhance students' understanding.

I give the text content 4 stars. It was required reading for an online college course and was informative for the purpose. I especially liked the Case Studies - they really helped to bring the information together. The major problem I had is that there are no page numbers, only location numbers at the bottom of the page. This makes it very difficult to find a topic or use the index to look up a concept.

I use this book in an introductory health informatics course. Covers exactly what I needed, including HITECH. The activities at the end if each chapter as well as the short cases at the end are very useful for discussion.

This is a great book especially for beginners. Even those who are "seasoned" may pick up some new information. I will say, with the way technology and healthcare are changing so quickly these days, don't take too long too read it or it may become quickly outdated. Keep fresh and get the new versions as they come out.

I purchased this book while attending the masters programme. This book was very useful. For those who feel comfortable in reading a hard copy than the online one, this is great asset. It is easy to understand, and contents are presented in a well organized way.

This is an informative and well organized book that helped me tremendously in preparing for the Clinical Informatics board exam. The book covers all the bases at just the right depth. The writing style is clear and concise. I highly recommended it!Tom Scaletta MDPresident, Smart-ER.net

I really enjoyed reading this textbook as well as learning more from this book. Well especially while trying to complete my Bachelor's degree and earning an "A" for the whole Semester!! YAY, now I'm completely done and get to finally Graduate. :-),, ;-)

Liked this text for my DNP course. Very comprehensive and readable for a textbook. I like that John Glaser is the author as my healthcare organization will be moving to corner platform over the next 2 years.

I enjoyed the book, not how the teacher chose to use it for the test, made it hard to locate items with no glossery, but overall a great book to use.
