The Westminster Shorter Catechism is a classic summary of Christian doctrine. This summary becomes more useful if one really thinks about and understands the matters being presented. Author G.I. Williamson ably assists the reader in this endeavor. The author's writing style is straightforward and succinct, with a touch of humor. Charts, diagrams, illustrations and anecdotes are all utilized. We have participated in classes which used this book, and have also used it at home with our older children. I highly recommend this book.
G.I. Williamson has done a great service to all who are interested in understanding the teachings of the Bible. The Westminster Shorter Catechism is an excellent summary of the Bible's teachings in question and answer form, and Williamson's study guide examines each question and answer in a manner that even youngsters can understand.
We went through this book last year as part of our daughters homeschooling curriculum. We enjoyed it so much and learned a great deal also. We have decided to go throuh it again so we purchased another book and put it on our Kindle so everyone has a copy now. I highly recommend this book if you are serious about your faith in God.
This book is great for study groups. I am using it for Sunday school class with the Jr. high class and it covers everything. Would recommend this book to anyone that might be in a teaching position. Never again wonder as to what to cover for next small group, start in the beginning and work your way through. Put down the topical studies and go for the real deal, the whole Scriptures!
Great work! The illustrations really help explain concepts in the text! I never considered myself "Reformed" due to not understanding things like Sovereignty, but I understand it soo much better now! Thank you Mr. WIlliamson!
I'm using this in a weekly Bible study in our church. We're only just past a third of the way through, but I like the convenience of this book on Kindle. Because I use this on my Android tablet and have my Bible on my Galaxy S4, I was able to give my paperback copy to someone else in our study group. The Kindle version on my tablet is easy to read and the illustrations are large enough to see clearly without straining my eyes.
GI Williamson makes the shorter catcheism much easier to understand. The questions are great for a small study group. He puts it in the context of modern theological questions, also.
This book is very helpful in thinking through your faith. May it bring you closer to Christ through examining the Gospel in Question and Answer form.
