"The Tarot of Perfection" is a wonderful collection of short stories with deep esoteric meanings - stories that one could easily believe were written by some ancient Master, and translated for our edification. They carry a mythical quality to them, and are written in such a manner that every time they are read (and I for one intend to read them many times over!) some new truth, some new understanding will emerge. The stories pull you in, and transport you to another world - and to worlds within that other world. They are magickal, fast moving, and absolutely amazing!Take another look at the woman pictured on the front cover. Clearly her white face is meant to be a mask. But take another look at her shoulders and arms. To me, t hey have a very porcelan look that indicates that the entire person is wearing a mask, and that if I watch long enough, it will fall away, piece-by-piece, with a whole new person emerging. How often do each of us feel this way about ourselves? Scary, eh!I was impressed that Rachel listed soemone from her life at the end of each story, indicating that this was who the story was written for. If the reader pays close attention, there is also a fleeting mention of a current Tarot wise-woman that will be familiar to many in the Tarot world. This is a book that I recommend for someone who is interested in Tarot, someone who is interested in personal/spiritual growth, and someone who is interested in good stories!
I am a huge fan of Rachel Pollack. I have several of her books, including Tarot Wisdom which I consult almost weekly. She has taught me so much. I have been reading Tarot cards for 24 years and Ms. Pollack and Mary K. Greer are my favorite teachers. This being said, I feel Ms. Pollack (or her publishers) rushed through this book. None of her characters are developed and the stories are too simplistic. Nothing rang true. It seems as if she had a deadline that could not be missed, even though the stories suffered for it. It does not seem at all like what I have grown accustomed to expect from her. The image on the front of the book is, from what I understand, part of her soon-to-be-released Oracle cards. The images that I have seen are amazing and Ms. Pollack swears they are dead accurate. I believe her. I will be the first in line to purchase her Oracle cards, but sadly, this collection of stories was mediocre at best.
A stunning offering from Goddess of Tarot, Rachel Pollack. I received this book from a friend in exchange for a reading. My friend knows that Pollack is one of my all-time tarot heroes (Mary K Greer is the other), which is why she chose this book.In The Tarot of Perfection, Pollack has created a series of tales based on and around the tarot. These tales are like tiny, bardic gems, gently drawing you into the wonderful symbolism of the tarot in the same way a diamond draws you into its depths. It is one of those books that become a precious part of you. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
Not what I thought I was buying... This should have had better linking to help someone link together the cards..
I enjoy reading these stories. So vivid and is perfect for an active imagination. I will buy more of these books.
