4 stars *Missing YouTube sensation. Friend with possible motive. Former stalker-turned-enemy-turned-reformed hunky dude. Plus a town willing to convict people based on no evidence and only the slightest bit of gossip (sounds like most towns, doesn't it?). Throw all of these ingredients (plus a whole lot of drama and secrets) together, and you've got GIRL LAST SEEN.GLS is a fast-paced, thriller of a read. The cover is supposed to be the missing YouTuber (and main character, Lauren’s, best friend) Kadence. Honestly, if I chose to read a book based on the cover, I would have never read GIRL LAST SEEN. Don’t make this mistake! READ THIS BOOK. You’ll be so glad you did!But back to Lauren. Lauren is your classic confused, antisocial artist type, who, after a freak accident with some food, loses the ability to sing. Kadence is the one in their duo who keeps on performing. (And not just on stage… her entire life is basically a performance.) She's a manipulative, crazy psycho. Or… is she?The further into GLS, the more confusing it gets. There are times you'll feel you’re SO SURE what’s caused Kadence to disappear (or at least WHO caused it); and no sooner are you fully confident that you’ve figured out who the REAL enemy is (“AHA YEP I KNEW IT”), you’re thrown into someone else’s head and immediately begin doubting that decision. Speaking of being thrown into someone’s head, we get to be in not only Lauren and Kadence’s brains, but Kadence’s boyfriend, Mason’s, and also Jude’s!Jude is Lauren’s former best friend who turned stalker-ish years prior and has only come back again very recently. He adds a different dynamic to the entire storyline—past and present—and was definitely my favorite character. He was mysterious, he was dark, he was confused.
