This book is a great intro to grey whales. We spent a month in Newport and Depoe Bay, Oregon this summer. Top on my bucket list was to see that famous whale tale, technically named fluke. And this part of Oregon boasts a year round small pod of greys. Yes, my #1 bucket list item was fulfilled, several times over, and indeed I saw greys up close I saw them spy hop, and saw and heard them spout. It was amazing, a lifetime memory. The thing is I ended up wanting to learn as much as I could about these amazing giants. This book is one of the best I found, explaining everything scientists know about the grey whales , their history in our oceans, breeding, feeding, migrating habits and lots more details of what they eat, how they feed and more. The book is dated and more has been learned about these amazing whales, still I choose this book because it contains everything a person wanting to learn about these wonderful mammals' needs to get a good solid understanding of them.
