This book is out of date. I am an instructor for a well-known Business School that forced the use of this book. It is copyright 2011 but references statistics from 1999 that forecast 2010 expectations. I have been in the health care IT industry for over 27 years and have seen what this book discusses come and go! I correct at least 5 slides for every chapter to bring the material up to date. The book does not cover what is important in the real world of HIT. The author devotes less than a page to major topics and goes on and on topics that are no longer relevant. It may be a good history book for the "Medical Records" department, but as for a text book for college students that want to be up to date in the field upon graduation, it does not even deserve the star I gave it.

This book is horrible. If you are under the age of 20, skip buying this alltogether and just borrow a friends in class. It's just a bunch of common sense stuff about how computers work with a small amount about health care.

For the students who are doing the Health IT program at UT. I will be honest and say I didn't read a single page out of this book and you DO NOT need it for the program. Save some money!

Purchased this book for a class. At the end of each chapter the questions are easy to answer since the material is presented in an easy to understand format. So far, the grades on my quizzes reflect the ease of use of the material.

The book is very easy to read but somewhat outdated. Bought it for a class. O. O o o u

The book is very comprehensive, well written, and covers the entire spectrum of IT relating to Healthcare.Would recommend this book to everyone who is serious about the role of IT in the Healthcare field.

Book in good condition!
