As with so many guides like this, this book has a lot of problems in terms of the Spanish. There are mistranslations, nonsensical words and misspellings. For example: "your glucose level" = "la azucarel azúcar que tiene en la sangre" ??Considering how many people they list as being consultants and editors, one would think they would have at least run a spell check on the Spanish. It's embarrassing for a purported definitive resource to have such basic problems. If you don't speak Spanish well, you might be misled; if you do speak it well, you'll find yourself doubting their translations based on the errors you'll find.I would hope they fixed some of these issues in the new version, but I haven't checked.
I'm a recently retired Spanish teacher and have been asked to volunteer at our local hospital. I was afraid that I wouldn't know all the medical terminology necessary. This is an easy to-use-guide full of necessary information, but a knowledge of Spanish would be helpful to use it. There are some small errors, but nothing that would seriously affect communication. BE CAREFUL! If you use these phrases, the Spanish-speaker will answer in sentences. What do you do then? Ask "yes" and "no" questions!!!
