First 60 pages are jam-packed with the essential high points of ICD diagnosis and CPT. Also a good overview of the differences between inpatient and outpatient coding. Best to follow along closely with your coding books, with a focus on the guidelines. The entire rest of the book is questions...with answers and rationales. Good rationales, not just canned ones that repeat over and over. Two mock exams at the end with an option to take them online just as you would take the CCS.
This book is full of errors! I am using this to prepare for the CCS exam in an accredited program so my Professor has access to the errata and even that has errors. Not only are there incorrect answers in the answer key, but even many of the questions themselves are incorrect and/or none of the multiple choice options are correct. And the case studies in the book, forget them. So many errors, it makes you doubt everything you know! Very disappointed!! It would have been a wonderful way to prep if not for the complete lack of editing/verification.
I took the CCS prep class and this was the required book. I did not pass the CCS, the multiple choice questions are NOTHING like the AHIMA CCS. Take an AHIMA prep course. Waste of money on this book and the class. The CCS book is EXACT to CCA book multiple choice questions. Had to put a star to write a review.
This book has way too many errors. I wrote the editor and they are aware of it. I just don't get how they sell a book with so many mistakes. totally unreliable when preparing for a national examination.
There are so many blatant errors in this book (not only breaking of coding rules and guidlelines but even simple typos and invalid codes) that I cannot trust it for accuracy whatsoever. I am returning it. The AHIMA study guide is better (and cheaper), as far as having less errors, although this one is more comprehensive, with way more questions and scenarios. Neither study guide unfortunately is like the actual exam at all from colleagues' feedback that having taking the CCS.
Same as edition w/ access card. Full of errors, can't be relied on for studying. In a large study group and we've all had the same complaints. Want to get refund from this mess. If bought directly from the publisher, they may offer refund. I bought this from . definitely not product as described.
I have this 3 stars because i thought it was a helpful study tool. However the amount of errors in this book is completely unacceptable especially for the price. Dont buy this book and rely on the answers.
ICD 9 based. DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK. Wait for the ICD 10 version.
