This study guide was all I used to get a 71 on the Business Law clep. I was planning on studying it for a few days before the exam but I got busy and only spent about a day and a half on it. I got really frustrated on the section on contract law, the material was explained well but I found it so confusing I put down the book and didn't study anymore that day. Then the day before the test I read the review section cover to cover, including the contract law chapter and it made sense to me reading it for the second time, I think I just needed time to let the material settle in my brain because I found the terms very confusing the first time I read it. I took the first practice test and scored a 62 on it. Good enough for a pass, I was done studying. The next morning right before the exam, I spent about 1 hour reviewing the book, only reading the sentences that had a word in bold print. I sat for this exam without much confidence but knew I'd easily pass 15 questions in to the exam, my actual score on the exam was 71. The questions in the REA guides exam were more difficult than the questions on the real test, which made me unjustly nervous about sitting for the real thing. You have to understand contracts and torts pretty well as well as there being 1 question on the writ of certoriari (supreme court question, kind of random). Don't spend too much time focusing on the details of business partnerships and corporations, just know the generalities and you'll do well. This test focuses mostly on contracts between people and the general legal environment of business (HR laws). If you understood that stuff you'll score in the upper percentiles on this one.

I passed the test with a 69 (apparently the equivalent of an A) after studying this book for about four weeks. There are a lot of topics to cover, and I feel that the author did a pretty good job of presenting most of what was needed and certainly enough to pass. The examples and explanations of the practice tests are excellent. This didn't get 5 stars for a couple of reasons. The book didn't come with the computerized practice test, which has really helped on other CLEP tests (my own fault for not spending the extra $). Additionally, it would have been helpful to have a quick review section at the end of each chapter covering vocabulary and important concepts. I found one error in one of the practice tests, but it wasn't a big deal. It's not perfect, but it's very good.I supplemented this book with Wikipedia, as they have a pretty good law section to cover specific topics.

This book did in fact have most of the information that was contained in the Exam. The reason for the 3 star is that the practice tests should have been online as well. The REA software is out dated and a piece of crap compared the online tests from the previous books. I believe if the practice test were online it would have been better for me. in addition, this book was last published way back in 2008 (that is 8 years old). I believe that REA can do a better job with this book or they choose not to because it is probably the least sold book and not worth the investment to upgrade. However, this i would consider probably the most difficult CLEP exam. Contracts is thee hardest.BUT, all in all I PASSED and that is the main thing.

So I wanted to wait till after i took the clep to review this book. First off, as many of you guys are probably in a similar situation as me, I decided to take the clep test because I was short 3 units to transfer and summer classes were full. I look through all the available clep test and I thought that Business Law would be the easiest for me since I have an interest in Business and the thought of studying it would not bore me. The book comes with two practice test and a CD rom(never used, I have a MAC).My study plan.I read this book front and back and took both the practice tests in 5 days. On the 7th day I took the CLEP exam and I got a 62 (considered an A) I would say that this book teaches you 85% of what is on the CLEP exam and some questions are directly in the book!I am going to buy this book for Marketing and government and take the CLEP again. I highly recommend this book!!

I passed the CLEP exam on the first try after studying this book. It was very easy to understand and made complicated concepts simple to grasp. I was scoring 55-60 on the practice exams on the CD-ROM but scored 84 on the actual exam. I recommend this book.

It's a great book that if you know cover to cover, you will pass the exam.Though, a big part of the test will be on material not covered in the book, but you only need to pass for which this is enough. The Barron's is good for supplementing, but it's too long for a crash course.I did take a class and that was a must in my opinion. The class mostly only covered things in this book.

The practice tests are the best part of this book - taking the tests and reading the answer explanations are the best preparation for a CLEP exam. I used this book in conduction with Barron's Business Law and studied for about a total of 3 weeks - no previous law experience or study - and passed the CLEP on my first try with a 67.

I turned this book into an outline (18 pages in 10 pt font) and studied all of the bold words with their definitions. After taking the 1st practice test I created an excel spreadsheet of the questions I missed which turned out to be beneficiary contracts. I studied again and took the 2nd practice test and was weak in Government agencies, created another spreadsheet and studied. I took the Clep exam Thursday and passed. Do read and take notes to the way you learn, do memorize the bold words, definitions and how they impact law and you can pass this test. I knew a little about law but not as much as I do now thanks to this book. If you have a small foundation this book will help you achieve your goal. It took about 2 weeks of reading and typing notes to finish the book. Another 2 weeks of study time before I took the test.
