This study guide made preparing for the test easy. The 6-week study plan and test taking tips were very helpful. The information was thorough and easy to read. There was a lot of information, but it was not overwhelming. The online part was easy to use. I was able to review all areas needed to pass the test for certification. The competencies covered by the practice test questions were listed right there with the question, and that made it so much easier for me to focus on what I really needed to spend more time on. It helps to get immediate feedback on the material covered. This guide has really good value for the money spent on it. If you want to make a move to teaching math, this guide will help you do it.
I took the PRAXIS II Mathematics (5161) computer-based test in March 2015 and scored a 160 (passing)!! I had purchased this study guide and the MOMETRIX flashcards at least three months prior. I cannot say enough good things about this study guide and how well prepared I was in relation to how unprepared I was prior (I barely used the flashcards). It is well organized with the major areas to be tested in their own chapters. Not only are the key concepts reviewed for you, but an example of each is provided and they are very similar to what you will see on the test. The online practice tests were great gauges to see where you need to focus your studies a little harder and it was easy to review/filter them by topic area. One side note, the three online practice tests are the same as the three in the back of the book. I had originally thought they would be different. If it has been a while since you have seen some of the tested topics, this is the book for you!
Bought three different books, loved this one the most. The accompanying online timed practice is awesome. I can't do a comparison with the actual test yet since ETS had a network breakdown on the day of my exam.
The information in the book is good, although there are some mistakes. But, the website is very frustrating. It freezes while you are taking the test, but the clock keeps ticking. It is painfully slow when reviewing a test. I ended up having to use the book a lot for the tests.
I ordered this book as there are no study guides for the NYS Multi Subject (CST Secondary 7-12) test. It had some similar material, but was not enough to prepare me for the New York State exam. The questions are worded differently. The content is similar, so it is better to use this than not. Until NYS decides to allow us to study for an exam, this will do. Still waiting for results. Will post updates.

This was a pretty good book to help prepare you for the test. It was slightly out dated with the 2013 test.
