I got this book in preparation for the Texes Teachers Exam and for the price was highly suprised that there were a lot of typos and mistakes in it. That said there is a lot of good material in it and suggestions of what to study and I did pass the exam on the first try. I think they could make an improvement on there practice tests though and not have the answers to the questions right below the answer choices. Altogether it was ok but definitely could have been lower priced for all the mistakes and typos.

This book really assisted me in passing the exam. If you studied this book thoroughly you are sure to pass the exam on the first try. However, though they updated the book from previous years, it is shame that it contained so many typos. I wonder how could an editor published it. Another thing that i did not really like is the answer located right beneath the question, it did not allow me to test my skills. However, I really liked the explanation after the answers. If you want to pass the Special Ed Content area this is a must buy.

This book did have a lot of typographical errors. That being said, it is absolutely the best resource out there for a consolidated manual for the TExES Special Educaiton EC-12. The book is explicit and uses redundancy to its advantage. It reads like using someone else's class notes. That is-- it's boring and at times you may have to log on to Google to figure out what is being discussed, but you will not find a better outline. That being said, I would find/purchase some practice tests and think a great deal about how to apply the material on the test. This test is one of the hardest TExES exams (I've heard and agree) simply because there is so much information. But it is scaled for difficulty, so you should be able to miss about 30% of the questions and still make a decent score (depending on how easy the version of the tests you take is). For a comprehensive study plan:1.) Purchase this manual. Use the internet to research terms you are not familiar with or concepts that need greater clarification. Special Education law is federal, so most requirements will be the same across all state lines, though terminology may be different.2.) Plan about two weeks to learn the material thoroughly. Focus especially on the types of disabilities, the ARD process and the laws pertaining to Special Education.3.) Spend time planning how you will apply this knowledge in a classroom.4.) Practice with as many forms of the test as possible.5.) Pass the test. I highly recommend marking your answers and going back to review them.I scored a 291/300, so if you follow these steps, you should be fine.

This is a great book for anyone wanting to be TX certified in this area. The content is easy to follow and is very informative. I would strongly recommend having prior certifications before trying to take this exam/read the book because so much of the info can be referenced by other certifications/teaching areas. For example, it is beneficial to know about the teaching field in general before getting this book so that you can make study notes along side the books content. There are also some typos in my copy of the book and only 1 of the study questions in the back did not match the competency it stated. I have used this type of book for my other 2 certification areas and have passes both times!

This study guide, along with the free study guide from the state website, were the primary resources I studied for the TExES Special Ed. Exam. I started studying about a week and a half before the test and passed on the first try with a 270/300.

This book was very useful in studying for the Special Education exam. It might have some type-o's but nothing major. It is easy to read and great for note taking and studying. I have used this company before and passed the exam on the first try. I would recommend double checking the ansewr key to the practice test on back. Every test booklet I have purchased for these TExES exams has had at least one wrong answer and usually its easy to pick out.

This was a very helpful guide that seemed to align well with what is on the test for Special Education TX. It had a diagnostic tool that really helped me to focus in on what areas I needed to spend more time on, and I could just skim over the areas I knew really well. I felt like there was more than enough information in the book to help me freshen up my knowledge and be able to pass the exam. The explanations of the questions were also really helpful. There was a section that talks about what to expect on the test and gives tips on taking it. To me, this goes above and beyond what you normally find in a study guide. The guide was affordable, and effective.

I studied this book in it's entirety and when I didn't understand something it said, I looked in another resource to clarify. It definitely DID help me pass the exam ...there was a lot of information in there that I didn't know before studying it. I would highly recommend it. The only reason I gave 4 stars is that there were several typos.
