I took the test yesterday and found that I had studied too much useless information because of this book and the other one I bought that was made by this company. Save your money. The test is largely situational. Study the practice questions from the teXes website (the test is extremely similar) and the domains. Also, be sure to know the literary periods and characteristics of each one. Other than that and a few grammar questions, there was not much content based material on the test. This book threw me off course.
Please do not put out a practice test unless all the answers you provide are correct. It is indeed frustrating to have to double check your answers with the web. Your answer for 111 cannot be correct. You really must do a better job. I am sure I came across a few more that were wrong and, being a novice in this area, you have managed to make me a bit unsure of myself and all your answers. For that reason, I am not sure I can recommend this book.
Overall, this is a pretty good book for the price I paid. I liked the way it was designed with a blank version of the test in the front and a version with explanations of the answers in the back. The only problem with the book I found was that some of the questions actually have no right answer. It is almost like the editor forgot to put a mistake in the grammar questions. This is very annoying until you realize the editors mistake. That is really the main reason I gave the book three stars. For the most part however, I think it would be a great preparation tool when accompanied with other books as well. Think of it as more of a supplemental book than anything.
It was a little helpful, but the material inside was not on the test :(. It dud not help me they much. Plus it did not nclude a sample essay and ideas for preparation.
