The online access codes for this product don't work at first. Fortunately, customer service got back to me within 48 hours and they had my online access up and running. This was my primary study guide for the Western Civ II Clep. I took my time and spent about two to three weeks studying. I read through the book twice and took only one of the practice exams.Using this book, I ended up passing my CLEP with a 61. Alot of the material that was in the test I saw in this book. I would recommend this book to a friend. Just remember that the online access codes may not work at first so you may have to contact customer service.
This book did not prepare me for the CLEP test. Test questions were nothing like the practice tests. The information in book did not cover all the details that were included on the test. I read this book 3 times and took the practice tests multiple times and was confident that I knew the material. The CLEP test appeared foreign - a lot of questions about things the book did not even mention. Very big disappointment.
I've researched long and strenuously for a most perfect way to study for the World Civilization II. This is it. Great reference source and thorough in all content. No where else can you get the full experience.
I gave this book two stars for two reasons.I've taken several CLEP's over the past year. I have used the REA books as my primary source of info on almost all exams. I checked this book out from my local library and lucky for me the code to register for the online diagnostic was not used. I took the online diagnostic and scored a 40. After reading the book in one day I took one of the practical exams. I scored a 58 on the practice test and felt somewhat confident based on my previous experience with REA study guides. Unfortunately the next day I only scored a 49 on the test, one point shy of what I needed. This book contains a lot of good info, but I discourage you to trust the assessment as an actual indicator of your performance and should not be used as your only source. This is the first time REA has let me down. Good luck "CLEP'ers"
I am half way through and it is a nice history book. The CLEP test is half about culture and art, though. Remember, many schools count this CLEP as a history requirement, a humanities requirement, and a global/historical awareness requirement. I failed the test once because I didn't know it was going to be dominantly weighted with questions about insignificant artist that had little place in history. This book has none of that.
I lived with this book by my side for about 3 weeks, and while the Western Civ CLEP test was (to me) VERY difficult, I passed!I enjoyed the format of this book and found that it focused on exactly the right material for the CLEP test.
