I recently passed my PMP exam on my first attempt utilizing this book, Andy Crowe's PMP EXAM Prep and the PMBOK guide. This book provided a great cross section of realistic PMP questions. If you're looking for a book that provides a perfect representation of the actual exam, good luck. I would tell you I didn't find anything that was a word for word match to the actual exam.That being said, this was an extremely difficult test and this book did a great job preparing me.
Passed the PMP but personally did not find these questions to be very challenging or similar to what I saw on the exam. Would have liked to see more situational questions and less definitions. Particularly this book could also use more questions on integrated change control and the various steps that need to take place. I also used the Rita book and cd and found them to be extremely useful.
I am preparing for the PMP exam and I bought this book last week and it has been wonderful! It enhances your studying because it groups the questions by knowledge area. Also, its answers and questions gives you added insight and understanding. I do not know how the level of difficulty on this book compares to that of the actual exam, but it is certainly a great review for the PMBOK!
I don't think the questions have been updated since the 3rd edition. Questions 247 and 248 are not in the fifth edition of PMBOK guide at least I could not find themQuestion 376 on total assumption has not been in the PMBOK guide since 2010. I had Google the question to find an example of the formula.My advice is that if you are answering the questions and never heard about what is being asked, it is probably an outdated question you should look in PMBOK guide for confirmation assuming you have already been unlucky enough to buy this book otherwise I would advice that you don’t buy this book at all.I am upset, that I spent money on a practice test and the questions are not up to date even though the title of book is “for the PMBOK guide, 5 edition”
PMP exam questions are notorious for containing extraneous information, and for requiring that the student identify the exact key word in order to choose the correct answer. Therefore the poor language construction and lack of any editing of this book undermines its creditability. The answers for a majority of the ABCD options to the questions are just a repeat of the correct answer, so no insight is offered as to why one answer is more correct than another. This is no learning tool. There was no way I could trust the content of such a low quality product. Spend your money on a different study aid.
I have been studying for the CAPM and appreciate this book but I am so disappointed in all of the typos. There are hundreds of typos. This is a 5th edition and still sentences end with no clear final thought, grammatical errors, and there are just plain misspellings. Honestly, I have thought about asking for my money back because I have had to put so much work in making corrections. I get that this is self-published, but find someone to proof the next edition, please.
The book was divided into sections which gives clarity and easy understanding of the topics you are treating. The answer parts provide details and explanations to the correct option(s), and insights to the wrong ones.....Excellent!I hope to meet with the author, Sean Whitaker, soon.
Great book for a last minute quick cram. There are a LOT of PMP prep resources out there which are largely redundant, repackaged versions of the same content with minor tweaks. This book actually had practice questions I hadn't seen anywhere else and as I took the test, some of it clearly stood out. I will recommend this to my friends.
