I knew the book before I ordered this second copy as a gift--very useful for anybody who hasn't done a lot of cooking, not just for children "helping" Mom out. One of its more valuable contributions to the kitchen is its schedule--when exactly the novice cook should start preparing what part of the meal in order to make everything come out together.The book arrived in very timely fashion in excellent condition.
I love that it tells you to figure out the time you want to eat, and then it says, "Two hours before dinner, peel four potatoes, etc.". Takes you step by step so everything is done at the same time. My son used to cook dinner two times a week when he was in seventh grade (because he wanted money and was too young for a real job!). He would choose what he was going to make, and I would buy what he needed during weekly grocery trips! It was awesome! He ended up going to the Culinary Institute Of America!
A wonderful first cookbook. Easy to follow, using real and fresh ingredients to make actual, tasty food. I've had to buy additional used copies for my grandkids. Time for a re-issue?
