Great read if you are looking for some Fl know how of shark tooth hunting on the west coach of Florida.I would recommend trying the basic beaches a few times and reading this book after you know the area a little bit.
I was so disappointed when I received this book. We are avid shark tooth hunters, and this black and white, cheaply put together book is not helpful for us. I bought my daughter a placement that is better than this book!
We got this book for my son for our trip to Venice Beach to look for shark teeth. It's very informative and interesting. I highly recommend this book for all of you interested in searching for shark teen in Florida.
I purchased the book after a trip to Venice Beach FL which included some shark teeth collecting, and wish I had the book before my trip. Small but pithy resource for those interested in archeology and collecting fossil sharks teeth, etc. from this area of Fl.
There was some interesting information I didn't know about the beaches in Venice and I live about 15-20 miles away having moved here about 1 year ago. We did try looking for shark teeth at the 2 beaches listed and did not find any. Neither did the people we talked to. Will try again. The book was okay, but again, I was looking for more detailed source to identify shark teeth. Probably needs some updating.
What a great book this is! I bought it as a gift, but when I was thumbing through it I found that I could not put it down. The author has explaind every thing so that it is easily understood. It is so well written and really interesting. This is Mr. Fuqua's second book and he has done a remarkable job on both of them. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who may be interested in fossils, shark teeth, diving, or just wanting a good read.
We thoroughly enjoy using this book as reference on our daily adventures at South Venice Beach. We hunt and find a variety of fossils, shells and shark teeth. Many of the beach goers ask us to look up their treasures as well!!Great book for our coastal gulf area.
Informative, although a little technical for a novice. I actually bought it to avoid the shipping charge for the Sand Dipper. Because my winter home is on the other coast of Florida, I won't being going there very often but shark teeth do occur on the beach where I collect sea shells.
