I am in college studying to be a meteorologist, and this book covers basic material for the first two semesters. It is well written and informative, from the nut and bolt basics to more fun topics like hurricanes and mid-latitude cyclones.
Whether you are taking a course or want good, concise information, this is the book. Ahrens taught for many years at Modesto Junior College. The weakest section is on climate, it sticks to Köppen and only briefly touches on Thornthwaite & Mather. If you are willing to read, reflect and study, you will learn much from Ahrens. Text, graphics and numerical information hold the reader's interests. Does a good job addressing local, regional, continental and global weather and climate.
Pretty easy to read, lots of pictures and charts to display information. Has convenient summaries throughout the chapters. This book was required for my class, and though we cover all the information in lecture this has tons of awesome stuff you can learn and is really useful. The author makes it easy to understand how information relates, and it has tons of great examples and graphs and such which really help me.
I enjoyed the material, it is packed with a lot of technical insight as it should be. I will be returning to it from time to time to reinforce the material. Great supplement to the class lecture.
Its a good book. Chapters are well laid out and easy to understand.
I needed this book for a class I was taking. At my bookstore on campus they wanted $110 for me to rent a used textbook. I found this on for $38 to rent and when I received the textbook it was NEW! Has saved me a lot of money.
The material in the book seemed like it was okay, but this can be a boring subject. I ended up not even using the book but professor required it for his class.
The book does not work on the Kindle Windows 8.1 but works okay on Kindle Windows 7. It would be better if the content was enabled from the publisher.
