I have no idea if they still do this anymore but I fondly remember when the elementary teacher would pass out scholastic catalogs during class and I'd excitedly glance through every selection. I purchased a copy of this book of poems for $0.99 back in 2002-2003 when I was in 5th or 6th grade. This remains one of my favorite book of poetry. The editor did a fantastic job of selecting poems that stand the test of time. Watched the film Interstellar the other day in which one of the characters narrates Do Not Go Gentle Into that Good Night!I also love the fact that some poems that I didn't quite 'get' as a kid, I can reread now and have a better understanding of what the poet was trying to convey.I misplaced my original copy due to a USPS shipping disaster and had to repurchase. I actually plan on buying multiple copies as backups and perhaps giving it away as gifts to young people.I cannot say I'm madly in love with all of the poems in there (never was a huge fan of Poe) but I have SO MANY favorites from this small collection (The Tyger being #1). This is a must buy for all ages! Seriously just get it.
Purchased by school district. Didn't hear any complaints from the teacher (and I would), so assume all's good.
I teach at an alternative school and this book is great to have on hand. It is a good collection of poems!
I use this in my classroom. The kids seem to enjoy the poems and it is easy to carry and read.
These poems were definitely NOT the best poems ever. We didn't even finish reading it.

The Best Poems Ever (Scholastic Classics)I bought this book because it was required for school. It has poems from all the most famous poets. Seems to me like the best poets ever with their worst poems, but it has a couple of the famous ones in there.
