My almost 11 y.o. LOVES the Scenario books. Yes, I capitalized on purpose because that almost captures her enthusiasm for this series. Why does she love these books? Because she loves being the character and choosing the outcome. She'll select the wrong choice, and then go back and make the right choice. It leads to great conversations as we talk about what makes one choice better than the other.In Dare to be Different, the first story Truth or Dare starts with friends playing a harmless game at regular sleep-overs. Then their games of Truth or Dare take a risky turn. One of them is dared to drink a can of beer. In All that Glitters, one of the girls has to decide whether to give in to her boyfriend and lie to her parents or tell the truth. The girls are learning how to address peer pressure to do things they know are wrong or take the hard stand of doing what is right.
I bought this for my 10 year old daughter to help her navigate through "Girl World" on a level she would appreciate. She LOVES it. And I've seen an improvement in her social decision making skills since she's read it. I think kids her age like the freedom in these books.
This series may not be heavy-hitting enough for older teens, but it is perfect for tweens! There are two stories in this book, and each have different endings, depending on which one the reader chooses. This allows the readers to experience the consequences of the characters' actions. What a great idea!Lying, testing bounderies, peer pressure--it is all addressed in this book. The dialogue may be a bit much for mothers reading it before giving it to their daughters, but who does not get a headache from their tweens' incessent talking?This book is wholesome--not preachy. If Nicole O'dell writes it, parents do not have to worry about the message! This is a great way to get your daughter hooked on reading. It would make an excellent gift. I recommend it.

I love the opportunity to find out what happens when the wrong choice is made and the opportunity to find out when the right choice is made.Ms. O' Dell's characters are real and credible. She deals with issues that are teens are facing today. Peer pressure drugs, alcohol and sex are temptations our kids are confronted with on a daily basis. Lindsay and Drew find out their choices affect not only them but they also affect their families and friends.These books should be required reading for all teens and their parents. Although this is my first book in this series, it will definitely not be my last.All the opinions contained in this review are mine.
